Mercedes-Benz wants that commercial vehicles went up with rapid technological innovations and company launches the project of $562.3 million (500 million euros), entitled “adVANce”. The new model Vision Van is part of the initiative, entitled «adVANce» and includes not only commercial vehicles used in industry, but also a complete reboot of the transport industry. The German automaker of Vision Van sees this future, and introducing a new electric van, which points to the next step in the supply of parcels.

Mercedes-Benz presented the new electric concept Vision Van, which is said to reflect all the future of electric vans.

Mercedes says the Vision Van combines “different innovative solutions for the delivery of last mile in urban and suburban environments,” except it is completely electric. “New Vision Van Concept is the first van, which is fully digitally combines all of the people involved to the processes from the distribution center to the consignee,” the company said.

More specifically, Vision Van is a fully automated cargo space combined with drones that carry out delivery. For example, it will allow the company which is engaged in the delivery of packages, parked a van in a residential area and the surrounding packs deliver multiple clients using air drones, even if they are currently available.

The latest concept from Mercedes is powered by electric power unit of 100 hp (75 kW) and, depending on the specifications can overcome the distance at no extra charge from 80 km to 270 km.

“With Vision Van from Mercedes-Benz Vans we offer future generations the idea of vans: intelligent automation technology connects the entire process – from loading and transport by road until the delivery to the final consumer,” said Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans. “It makes it easier for business companies involved in the delivery and much reduces the time of delivery to end customers.”

The initiative “adVANce” focuses on three areas of innovation: combining the van to the Internet of Things, in which attached smart technologies such as new telepathic unit that collects and processes data relating to the process of transportation and delivery of goods, current location and download, and a new fully automated inventory management system that downloads ordered stuff directly from the van during the night.

The second area – the use of innovative hardware solutions for the transportation industry, which includes a system of fully automated cargo space to do the job of providers more effective in carrying out deliveries. Finally, the third area – offer new mobility concept for the transport of things and people and make their transportation more efficient.
