Presented Chevrolet Corvette Roadster CoupeOctober 3, 2019
This summer, the eighth generation Corvette model was presented, and the sports car received a mid-engine instead of the typical layout. Initially, they demonstrated a variant with a body of the Targ type, which is standard for a car, there will be no traditional coupe, just as Corvette did not have the previous two generations.
Now they showed the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible roadster, which instead of a folding roof was first equipped with a hard top.
The novelty acquired another rear fairing, the glass roof above the engine disappeared, at the same time 2 tunnels behind the headrests appeared. Under the new panel, a 2-section rigid roof was installed, activated by 6 electric motors, and it transforms in 16 seconds at a speed of up to 48 km / h.
Since the novelty was originally created as a targa, in order to turn it into a roadster coupe, it was not necessary to further strengthen the bottom. At the same time, due to the increase in weight and the change in axle weight of the Convertible variation, the engineers had to individually configure the suspension. In addition, the manufacturer offers a track set Z51 Performance, adding a spoiler to the stern.
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible will acquire the same engine as the Targa: an atmospheric 6.2-liter V8 engine with a capacity of 502 horsepower and a torque of 637 Nm. Together with the power plant will operate an 8-band “robot” Tremec.
At the same time, the manufacturer did not disseminate information about the dynamic characteristics. It should be mentioned that the standard model can accelerate to 60 mph (97 km / h) in less than 3 seconds, and its maximum speed is 312 km / h.
Serially, coupe-roadsters will begin to be produced in early 2020. According to information, such a version will cost $ 7,500 more than targa, that is, its cost in America will start from $ 67,500
