Presentation of the electric version of Volkswagen TransporterMay 19, 2020
This modification was developed in conjunction with the tuning studio ABT, which is often involved in tuning various German cars.
Volkswagen showed off its Transporter electric van. Details about the new product were disclosed on Monday, May 18. Already many manufacturers are gradually starting to show their light commercial vehicles that operate exclusively on electric traction. Therefore, Volkswagen, which is one of the world leaders in the LCV segment, could not stay away. Outwardly, the novelty is not so easy to distinguish from the classic version with a diesel engine – only the ABT nameplate on the grille catches your eye. The electric motor has a power of 110 hp, which is transmitted to the front wheels from the battery, which has received a fairly compact size.
As a transmission, an “automatic” with two clutches is used. German experts have been looking for a place to install the battery for a long time and eventually mounted it under the body. This was done to maintain the payload and volume of the van, which is still 236 feet. It is also possible to use fast charging – in this case, you can charge the batteries up to 80% in 45 minutes.
In the case of using conventional mains charging up to 100%, you can recharge the batteries in 5.5 hours. The cost of the car is 42,060 pounds
