Powerful Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition sedan unveiled in TokyoOctober 23, 2019
The Japanese novelty debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show. An exclusive version of the machine will be available only at the Japanese market. The automaker will only assemble 555 copies of the Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition.
Announced about a month ago, the last Subaru car to receive the EJ20 engine was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show currently in progress. The car was shown along with the new generation Levorg station wagon.
It is worth noting that the power plant Subaru EJ20 was introduced back in 1989 on the Legacy sedan and has since been installed in many models of the company. In the new Subaru WRX STI, the turbocharged 2.0-liter EJ20 engine delivers 304 horsepower (422 Nm) and is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox as well as an all-wheel drive system.
The circulation of the Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition is limited to 555 copies, and the minimum price will be 4 110 000 yen. No longer will the EJ20 engine be produced.
It is believed that the next-generation WRX will be introduced before the end of 2020, and may have a smaller engine. The aforementioned Levorg station wagon of the new generation should go on sale next year with the newly developed 1.8-liter turbocharged engine under the hood, which could well be installed in the new Subaru WRX.
The spectacular sedan will receive 19-inch BBS gold rims, Brembo brakes, as well as many changes in the cabin. Automotive engineers also retuned the engine, clutch and flywheel, and added several safety systems. It is unfortunate that this car will be available only for the domestic market of Japan.
