Power added to base Mercedes-AMG GTJuly 29, 2020
The German brand decided to revise the Mercedes-AMG GT family: it was decided to abandon one of the modifications, while the base one became more productive.
The list of modifications of the Mercedes-AMG GT will no longer include the GT S version, while the base GT has become more powerful than the bygone GT S, tightening the equipment level.
It is reported that the V8 4.0 biturbo engine in the base coupe and roadster Mercedes-AMG GT demonstrates a return of 530 hp instead of the previous 476 hp. By comparison, the GT S had 522 hp. The gearbox is preserved – it is a 7-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches.
At the same time, already in the “base”, buyers of a sports car receive an adaptive suspension, compound brakes with calipers of a bright red hue, the most extreme driving mode, Race, etc.
As an option, the entry-level sports car can be equipped with a fully-controlled chassis. Prior to that, only customers who chose cars in the S-version and higher had access to it. If desired, the base Mercedes-AMG GT will try on black décor. And in the coupe body – and a carbon fiber roof panel. These are all attributes of a special package called Night Edition.
Another innovation shared by all versions of the sports car, the new lithium-ion battery is smaller and lighter.
Today the family of German “two-door” includes four versions: GT (530 hp), GT C (557 hp), GT R (585 hp) and not so long ago debuted GT Black Series (730 hp). The first three can be coupes or roadsters. The improved Mercedes-AMG GT will reach dealerships already this November. The coupe will have to pay 119,000 euros, and for the roadster – 131,000 euros.
