Last week we reported on an interview with Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Kia Motors America, who made it clear that the South Korean manufacturer may still be presenting a pickup truck soon.
The conceptual pickup made by Hyundai will be taken as the basis for the new model – these two brands are in fact very close. Mr. Cole could not confirm this directly, but did not deny this, which was enough for KiaTellurideForums enthusiasts to create a rendering with a preview of the world’s first Kia pickup.
The model is an expensive truck, similar to the previously presented concept pickups Honda Ridgeline and Volkswagen Tanoak.
The author of the project says that such a vehicle can use a one-piece body structure and have the same all-wheel drive as the Telluride hefty crossover.
“The Kia pickup shown here received a large amount of dark black plastic, which replaced the abundance of chromium in the original model,” the renderer says.
Naturally, the creator says, the pickup will ride high-profile all-terrain tires, and it will also have a suspension raised by 2.54 cm.
It is assumed that the truck will be equipped with a 3.8-liter Kia V6 engine, tuned to provide slightly less power, but slightly more torque over a wider rev range. An eight-speed automatic transmission will transmit torque to all four wheels.
At the moment there is no official data on whether Kia will actually create a pickup or not.
