As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the sports car, a modern interpretation of the car will soon be presented. The debut is to take place at the special exhibition Colors of Speed - 50 Years of the 917.
March 12, 2019 will be held an exclusive event Colors of Speed - 50 Years of the 917. This event is organized by the German brand in honor of the 50th anniversary of the sports model Porsche 917, which debuted on March 12, 1969 as part of the Geneva Motor Show. The first car of the 917-001 series was built in full compliance with the regulations of the technical group “Group 4”, and became the winner in the competition “24 Le Mans Hours” in 1970 as number 23.
During the exhibition, the company will demonstrate a restored copy of a sports car (it was demonstrated at the Geneva Motor Show). For restoration, it took about a year of work with the involvement of specialists of that time, employees of the company’s museum, as well as professional technicians and partners of the company. To restore tried to use only original parts and materials.
To restore the original look, the project participants needed to print the front and rear body panels on a 3D printer, as well as to restore the rear section of the aluminum spatial frame.
The highlight of the exhibition will be a modern interpretation of the sports car, with an as yet unknown design and technical characteristics. The show car, developed by a small group of designers and engineers, will be on display along with ten copies of the classic Le Manov model.
