Porsche tests the most beautiful Porsche 911August 5, 2020
Testing of the new 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Touring prototype was captured on video during trials near the Nürburgring, and it should be noted that it may turn out to be one of the finest 911 variants ever to hit the market.
Like the “standard” 911 GT3, the Touring will be powered by a powerful naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, probably 4.0 liters. The 512-horsepower engine of the previous generation 911 GT3 RS could have been boosted by Porsche engineers to 550 horsepower, which inevitably would have made the new GT3 Touring “a real fireworks”. Combined with the high-revving engine, a 6-speed manual transmission is likely to be used as standard, but PDK may be available as an option, as on the “regular” 911 GT3.
The key difference between the GT3 and the GT3 Touring is the lack of a fixed rear wing. Instead, the GT3 Touring has a retractable spoiler that gives it a more understated look. On the other hand, we see this prototype running on new black wheels with very thin spokes, behind which is a set of red brake calipers. In addition, the sharp rear diffuser and hood with deflectors are striking.
The previous generation Porsche 911 GT3 Touring followed in the footsteps of the more expensive 911R but was not limited in production. It was also offered exclusively with a manual transmission and had an all-leather interior. The new car is also expected to follow this philosophy and offer a slightly more luxurious interior than the regular GT3.
According to preliminary information, the premiere of the new 911 GT3 will take place next month. If that turns out to be true, we’ll probably see the GT3 Touring unveiled soon.
