Porsche teaser announced the electric station wagon Taycan Cross TurismoFebruary 10, 2021
Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo teaser suggests that Porsche is preparing to introduce a station wagon in the near future. Porsche spokesman Mark Webber is delighted with the prototype he has driven.
The 718 and 911 remain the core of the Porsche sports car range, but the German automaker has significantly expanded its lineup to attract new customers. In addition, the brand’s menu features at least three SUVs (Macan, Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe), as well as the Panamera liftback and station wagon duo and the all-electric Taycan sedan. The Taycan Cross Turismo will be added to the Porsche portfolio in a few weeks.
Initially presented as a concept at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the zero-emission production wagon is gradually approaching its premiere. On his Instagram account, Porsche spoke about brand ambassador and former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber, who had the chance to drive a prototype. The 44-year-old Australian claims that the model will be presented within two months.
“Phenomenal first trip with this beauty for me. Rides like a Porsche, feels like a Porsche, smells like a Porsche. Now it is a true sports car with even more space and ground clearance. Expect the world premiere of the all-new Taycan Cross. Turismo will take place in less than eight weeks. In dealerships this summer. I can not wait. This is an ideal car for the Australian outback and the German autobahns, ”Webber shared his impressions.
Thus, the world premiere should take place sometime by the end of March, and the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo will reach dealerships this summer. Given the Cross Turismo’s streamlined shape, it’s unlikely a wagon will be more practical than the standard Taycan, which can hold 405 liters of cargo behind the rear seats. The Turbo and Turbo S versions have a boot volume of 365 liters.
Porsche’s upcoming electric car will have an edge over the petrol station wagon as it will be slightly taller. In addition, the Taycan with the “Cross” attachment will feature plastic wheel arch liners, further emphasizing the off-road character of the vehicle.
It would be prudent for Porsche to sell the Taycan Cross Turismo with standard air suspension allowing ride height adjustment. The station wagon will likely be available in the same versions as the sedan, but it is unclear if rear-wheel drive will be offered for the base trim. Everything will fall into place in the coming weeks.
