Porsche Taycan Enters Final TestingMarch 29, 2019
The first ever all-electric Taycan sedan in the history of the German Porsche brand has already traveled 3.7 million miles in tests, as well as 6.2 million additional miles in virtual tests. It is reported that prototypes of electric vehicles are in 30 different countries, so that engineers can understand how the new product responds to different weather conditions.
The company claims that the performance of the electric sedan is tested at temperatures from -35 to 50 degrees Celsius.
Currently, Porsche Taycan is in the final stages of testing, on the eve of its official debut in September. The start of sales of the long-awaited novelty is scheduled for the end of the year. “Before Taycan enters the market at the end of the year, we will cover about six million test kilometers across the globe. We are already very pleased with the current state of the cars, ”said the vice-president of the brand.
Porsche also conducted Taycan computer testing, which allowed an electric vehicle to travel another 10 million kilometers in the virtual world. This work included the use of a driving simulator on the Nürburgring orbital circuit. It is alleged that the prototypes in these tests passed the entire route in less than eight minutes.
Taycan will be quite fast car – it will take less than 3.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h. Cruising will be more than 500 kilometers. It is reported that more than 20,000 people have already filed preliminary applications for the novelty. In 2020, the Taycan Sport Turismo electric wagon will be introduced.
