Porsche spoke about the electric version of the Panamera fastbackSeptember 5, 2020
According to representatives of the premium brand, the electric version of the Porsche Panamera fastback will not compete with the electric sedan Porsche Taycan. “These cars differ from each other primarily in size” – said the official representative of the automaker.
When the Porsche Taycan electric sedan came along, many were of the opinion that it looked like an electric version of the Panamera fastback. And we were inclined to think the same, but then it turned out that the Panamera is larger in size than the Taycan sedan. But you must admit that these two cars have a lot in common in terms of design.
In a recent interview following the global premiere of the revamped 2021 Panamera, Porsche Vice President of Product Line Dr.Thomas Freemuth spoke about the electric version of the model.
An all-electric version of the Panamera four-door is currently being considered.
“We have to think about which cars are in the greatest demand right now, and now we have to keep an eye on what is happening with our electric Taycan in terms of consumer activity. Once we understand this issue, we will make the final decision on a fully electric version of the Panamera, ”said Mr Freemouth.
Fremuth noted that the Panamera is larger than the Taycan, stressing that it is a larger car with more interior space compared to the Taycan sedan. He added that the Taycan is a different car than the Panamera.
Porsche’s decision to fully electrify the Panamera comes as no surprise. The majority of Panamera sales in Europe are in hybrid versions.
Not so long ago, autoTimesNews wrote that Audi employees will help Porsche in the production of the Taycan car. For this purpose, Porsche will employ 400 Audi employees. The expansion of the staff was required due to the great demand for the car.
