Porsche sold more cars than all direct competitors put togetherJanuary 12, 2018
For the Germans from Zuffenhausen, China became the main market. On it in 2017, 71,508 units were sold or 10 percent more than a year earlier.
German automotive manufacturer Porsche held another record sales year. The growth in sales volume for the year of 2017 was 4 percent. In quantitative terms, 246,375 cars were sold.
Impressive is how quickly the German company doubled its result. Just six years ago in 2011, sales totaled 116,978 units, or less than half of last year’s figure.
The locomotive of last year’s sales was the mid-size Porsche Macan crossover. He sold over 97,000 copies. His share was almost 40 percent of the entire portfolio of models. That’s how many cars Porsche sold in 2010.
The main competitors of Porsche last year sold significantly fewer cars. Aston Martin reached a level of 5 117 cars. Jaguar showed a result of 178 601 units. Maserati has not yet published its sales for 2017, but a year earlier it had an implementation of 42,000 copies. All these together, these rivals could not exceed the amount of Porsche.
