Porsche showed 5 of its most secret prototypesDecember 28, 2018
Porsche has published a video that allows you to visit the secret factory warehouse of the German brand. In almost a five-minute video, it tells about the five most unknown projects of the automaker, which remained in the status of the prototype.
The video begins with a show of the Porsche 984, which was developed in the mid-1980s. It was a project of an inexpensive small sports car with a roadster body, the distinguishing features of which were a small mass (about 880 kg) and aerodynamic performance. Porsche 984 is equipped with a 135-horsepower engine, allowing the sports car to reach a maximum speed of 220 km per hour.
The following describes the prototype Porsche Cayenne Cabrio, which has become one of the world’s first open-body crossovers. This car was built in 2002 on the platform of the first Porsche Cayenne and so was never launched in the series.
Next comes the single-seater Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Speedster 1987, which could become the ideological successor to the classic Porsche 550 Spyder of the 1950s. Next, show the concept of a Porsche Panamericana with a body of an unusual shape and a detachable roof with a zipper, which can be removed in the luggage compartment.
Porsche has called the 918 Spyder hybrid supercar the “secret prototype number one,” which features a 550-hp combined installation. This car was shown to a limited group of journalists in 2012.
