Porsche restored the Carrera GT sports car on the client’s orderFebruary 11, 2019
Porsche introduced the Carrera GT sports car, which was restored more than 15 years ago and was customized by a customer. The presentation of the new car was held at a private event in Atlanta, organized for one hundred special guests, including the owner of the car.
Restoration of the sports car Carrera GT, owned by an unnamed American collector, was engaged in the division of Porsche Classic. During the restoration of the car completely disassembled and re-assembled, carefully checking each component. If necessary, parts and assemblies were repaired or replaced. The engine, transmission and chassis of the sports car underwent a complete refinement, which allowed 15-year-old Carrera GT to get the capabilities of modern Porsche cars.
At the request of the client, the sportcar body was painted in the color Oak Green Metallic, which first appeared in the Porsche palette in the 1970s, but was never used for the Carrera GT. The car was equipped with five-spoke magnesium alloy wheels in the style of the legendary BBS racing wheels with a gold “star” and a polished rim ring. The inner part of the Carrera GT wheels was covered with a special layer based on real silver, protected from oxidation with transparent varnish and giving the impression of a single chrome-plated part. To do this, Porsche Classic specialists had to develop their own technology. The needles themselves are painted in the color of gold, which contrasts with the blue-silver central wheel lock with the brand’s color emblem. Gold inscriptions “Porsche” appeared on the brake calipers, in the engine compartment, on the casing of the intake manifold and on the steering wheel.
It took 350 hours to restore all carbon parts, including monocoque. Each element was ground and re-coated. Also was completely altered salon.
Porsche Carrera GT was produced from 2004 to 2007. The circulation of the car was 1270 copies. The sports car was equipped with a 5.7-liter V10 engine (612 hp, 590 Nm) and a six-speed manual gearbox.
