Porsche refuses diesel enginesSeptember 23, 2018
German company Porsche has officially confirmed the information that it stops working with diesel engines. Now the brand will focus exclusively on the improvement of gasoline, hybrid and all-electric units.
As part of a recent interview with Porsche CEO Oliver Blum with the foreign edition of Bild am Sonntag, some details of the company’s future became known. To be more precise, the official information about the company’s refusal of diesel engines was officially confirmed.
Earlier we have repeatedly said that Porsche and Volkswagen suffered heavy losses because of the diesel scandal of the past. And echoes of “Dieselgate” still concern the German concern, and its subsidiaries. “The diesel scandal has brought us many problems,” Blum said. But the main problem is the loss of trust and image of the company.
Recall that as early as 2015, the US Environmental Protection Agency accused the Volkswagen auto concern of fraud with indicators of the level of environmental friendliness during testing. This was achieved due to special software, which understated the real figures almost five times.
Now Oliver Blum says that the company will no longer be engaged in the development of diesel engines. All freed capacities and funds will be directed to the development of gasoline, hybrid and fully electric systems.
In addition, the Volkswagen concern was repeatedly suspected of other machinations. For example, at the beginning of the month there were reports that the company could conduct manipulations not only with diesel, but also with gasoline engines. Also Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes are suspected of collusion.
Meanwhile, Porsche announced the launch of a mass production of the updated crossovers Macan. Their assembly is processed at the facilities of the brand company, based in Germany in the city of Leipzig.
