Porsche Macan will be left without gasoline enginesFebruary 16, 2020
More recently, it was reported that Porsche is going to offer customers two versions of its popular Macan crossover – gasoline and electric. Now, in the specialized media, information has appeared that over time, the model will have only one environmentally friendly modification.
The fact that the German crossover Porsche Macan of the new generation will acquire an electric version, we have already reported. It was planned that the brand would immediately sell the gasoline and electric versions of its SUV. From each other, they will differ not only in the power plant, but also in appearance. Now it has become known that the fully electric Makan will eventually remain the only one. For example, the American auto magazine Car and Driver, citing a source at the top of the Porsche top management, says that Macan will change its generation next year. Then the company will introduce an electric version of the cross.
Both SUVs – gasoline and electric – will be sold in parallel for at least three years. Then the strategy will be adjusted taking into account sales volumes.
If the sales volumes of the electric Porsche Macan will suit the leadership of the German premium brand, then the brand may completely abandon its gasoline version. And this can happen before the planned 2024. Recall that the electric Porsche Macan will receive a modern platform PPE (Premium Platform Electric), in the development of which engineers from Audi participated. The first electric Porsche – the Taycan sedan – is based on this cart.
