Porsche Macan electric debut coming soonMarch 12, 2020
The first images of an environmentally friendly version of the German sports crossover appeared on the Web, which demonstrate the design of the future news.
The model debuted for the first time in 2014 and immediately gained great popularity – only in 2019 the automaker managed to sell about 100 thousand copies of the model. And now is the time to release the second generation model. Porsche experts are completing the setup and testing of the all-new, electric Porsche Macan.
“We have already begun developing the electric Macan. We at Porsche are obligated to think about sports solutions for electric vehicles and work on them, ”quoted AutoTimesNews as quoting Michael Steiner, a member of the Porsche Research and Development Board.
At the heart of the new product, which will no longer be produced with traditional ICEs, is the new architecture of Premium Platform Electric (PPE). This is a pretty risky step for a successful model, especially given the relatively small but growing market share of electric vehicles worldwide. Thus, to withstand any resistance from buyers who might not want an electric Macan, Porsche will continue to sell the current generation of crossover along with a completely new version.
The design of the electric Macan will resonate with the new Taycan due to their common feature – the availability of electric motors. However, the general shape and silhouette of the electric Macan is unlikely to change much compared to the traditional version of the car. The electric platform will allow Porsche to completely rethink interior design, and a flat floor should free up much more room inside for passengers.
