Porsche has held an online presentation of the new Taycan Cross Turismo electric crossover.

This was reported by the press service of the manufacturer. The new Taycan Cross Turismo inherits all the best from the Taycan sedan, including superior performance and range.

Among the important differences of the new items are more space for rear passengers, a luggage compartment with a volume of more than 1200 liters, as well as the new Gravel off-road mode. In addition, four-wheel drive and an adjustable air suspension with variable ground clearance are included in the standard equipment of the new Taycan Cross Turismo.

The exterior of the Taycan Cross Turismo closely mirrors that of the Mission E Cross Turismo concept shown at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Off-road accents include wheel arch liners, unique front and rear bumpers and side skirts. In combination with the Off-Road Design package, the new Taycan Cross Turismohas special “wings” at the corners of the front and rear bumpers and at the ends of the sills.

The interior design of the Cross Turismo is inherited from the Taycan sedan. A distinctive feature of the new Taycan Cross Turismois the compass located on the top of the dashboard.

Taycan Cross Turismo buyers will be offered four modifications of the new Taycan Cross Turismo. Standard for all is the Performance Battery Plus with an energy capacity of 93.4 kW. All versions of the model are equipped with two electric motors located on each of the axles and drive their own pair of wheels.

The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo has 280 kW (380 hp) of power in its arsenal, and the overboost function of the Launch Control system allows for a short-term increase in output to 350 kW (476 hp). To accelerate to the first “hundred” the car will need 5.1 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 220 km / h. In this version, the WLTP cycle range is from 389 to 456 km.

The second version, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, boasts a capacity of 360 kW (490 hp), and if necessary, the output will increase to 420 kW (571 hp). As a result, a sprint of 0-100 km / h will take 4.1 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 240 km / h. The power reserve is approximately the same – 388-452 km.

The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo and S Cross Turismo have a power output of 460 kW (625 hp), but differ in peak output of 500 kW (680 hp) and 560 kW (761 hp), respectively. In the first case, the acceleration dynamics is 3.3 s, and in the second – 2.9 s. But the maximum speed of Cross Turismo and S Cross Turismo is the same – 250 km / h. As for the power reserve, it will be 395-452 km and 388-419 km, respectively.

The new Taycan Cross Turismohas received an improved control system for the Porsche 4D Chassis Control. It synchronizes the operation of all transmission and suspension systems in real time. Adaptive air suspension with electronic damping control is standard on all Taycan Cross Turismo versions. The air suspension has a Smartlift function that allows you to program the amount of ground clearance depending on the specifics of the route.

The Taycan Cross Turismo comes with an additional Gravel mode as standard, especially for light off-road applications such as gravel trails. In this mode, the ground clearance is automatically increased by 30 mm compared to the sedan. The choice of the Gravel mode also affects the algorithm of the adaptive suspension, traction control systems, vectoring and stabilization, as well as the electronic accelerator pedal.

The Taycan Cross Turismo has an 800 volt on-board system unlike most other electric vehicles that use 400 volts. The standard equipment of the new Taycan Cross Turismoincludes the Performance Battery Plus battery, consisting of 33 modules with 12 cells each. Total – 396. The total energy capacity of the battery is 93.4 kWh. The Functions on Demand (FoD) system allows customers to select the desired set of optional functions regardless of the basic configuration. For example, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), Power Steering Plus, Active Lane Keeping and Porsche InnoDrive can be ordered for any version.

Thanks to the efforts of engineers and designers, the new Taycan Cross Turismohas a good drag coefficient of 0.26. The Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system includes adjustable air intake flaps at the front of the car, and air suspension automatically reduces the Taycan Cross Turismo’s ground clearance at high speeds.

The Taycan Cross Turismo can be charged both at home from a household electrical outlet and at special charging stations. An 11 kW charger is included as standard, and a more powerful 22 kW version can be ordered at an additional cost. At powerful charging stations, you can recharge the battery to cover a distance of up to 100 km in just 5 minutes. In motion, the braking energy recovery system allows the battery to be recharged.

The new Taycan Cross Turismoincludes a wide range of Porsche Tequipment accessories and optional equipment. For example, the eBike Sport and eBike Cross electric bikes are available as options with a lightweight carbon frame. Porsche has also developed a three-bike rack for the Taycan Cross Turismo. Its design allows access to the trunk of the car, even when the bikes are mounted in racks. Customers can also order a closed roof rack that allows it to be used at speeds up to 200 km / h.

All seats have three-point seat belts, and the cabin is equipped with a variety of airbags and curtain airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger. The Taycan Cross Turismo comes standard with LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, a multifunction steering wheel, combined leather trim, 8 power front seats and much more.

Production of the Taycan Cross Turismo will be organized at the company’s plant in Zuffenhausen in parallel with the Taycan sedan. Sales of new items will start this summer.

As previously reported by AutoTimesNews, the Porsche Taycan entered the Guinness Book of Records. He took part in the longest drift ride ever in an electric car. The Porsche Taycan already holds the record for many other disciplines. Among them, the 24-hour endurance race on the fast track in Nardo, as well as the best time in its class (7:42 min) on the Nürburgring North Ring.
