Porsche has set a new record for the Nurburgring. The GT2 RS MR supercar was the fastest North Loop car with tolerance on public roads: it traveled 20.6 km in 6 minutes 40.3 seconds. The Porsche was faster than the electric NIO EP9 (6: 45.90) and McLaren P1 XP1 LM (6: 43.22) from the Lanzante atelier.

The GT2 RS was prepared for a record-breaking race by Porsche engineers in cooperation with Manthey-Racing specialists. GT2 RS MR has received a new set of components and chassis settings, taking into account the features of the Nurburgring. However, the manufacturer does not yet provide detailed information on the changes. Behind the wheel of a supercar was Lars Kern, who in September 2017 set a lap record on the serial Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

The most powerful and fast Porsche 911 – GT2 RS – celebrated the world premiere in June 2017. The supercar received a 3.8-liter boxer biturbo “six” with a capacity of 700 horsepower (750 Nm of torque) and a seven-speed PDK robot. Acceleration to 100 km/h of coupe takes 2.8 seconds. The maximum speed of the supercar is 340 kilometers per hour.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS formed the basis of the modern version of the historic Leman 935/78 Moby Dick sports car. The Porsche 935 with fiber-reinforced plastic body and exterior details from the 919 Hybrid and 911 GT3 R were presented at the Rennsport Reunion festival in September. Porsche plans to assemble just 77 of these cars.
