Porsche Digital opens a branch in SpainJuly 30, 2020
With the opening of a new office in Barcelona, the digital division of Porsche AG is expanding its international network of digital business models. The focus is primarily on the consistent development of existing and development of new online customer services as well as high-tech solutions in the automotive sector.
The new division will be operated by Porsche Digital in conjunction with SEAT’s subsidiary SEAT: CODE. The department includes product managers, software developers, technology experts and UX designers. In close collaboration, they will jointly develop and implement digital projects.
“We are very pleased that together with SEAT: CODE we are expanding our international network,” says Stefan Cervek, Chief Operating Officer of Porsche Digital. “Our goal is to use the strategic digitalisation opportunities in a timely manner to benefit Porsche. And for that, building and expanding a global innovation framework is critical. In Barcelona we have a great opportunity to attract new talent. “
Barcelona is one of the largest innovation centers in Europe with great potential in new technologies and developments. The company will grow significantly in the coming years. Until the end of 2020, about 30 people will work in its office located in the city center.
Sebastian Grams, Chief Information Officer of SEAT and Member of the Supervisory Board of SEAT: CODE, explained: “SEAT: CODE is our ‘digital machine’ for developing digital products and solutions for SEAT and the Volkswagen Group. Cooperation with Porsche Digital will allow us to combine knowledge and work together – including geographically – on projects. “
Porsche Digital is the technological and digital home for the sports car manufacturer in Zuffenhausen. The main task of the company is to find and analyze new digital business models, as well as to optimize existing products. For this, the 100% subsidiary of Porsche AG develops digital solutions and services, offers high-tech industrial solutions and acts as the main driving force behind the improvement of the digital eco-system.
The new office in Barcelona will be part of a global innovation network that now brings together three offices in Europe and four more offices in Israel, China and the United States. Digital development centers are located in Ludwigsburg, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Shanghai, Atlanta and Silicon Valley. In July 2020, Porsche Digital will move its Silicon Valley office from San Jose to Palo Alto, located in the heart of the region.
