Porsche completes tests of the new 911 SpeedsterJuly 3, 2018
Press service of the German automaker Porsche for the first time published official images of the retro concept of the 911 Speedster (a two-seat sports car with an open top and no side windows) back in June this year. A few weeks later, the first spy images of this car appeared. Therefore, we can very well expect that the official display of the representative of the legendary 911 family will take place in the coming months.
Car editions shared with our editorial a video that shows a test prototype of the updated Porsche 911 Speedster, which winds circles around the German Nürburgring race track.
It is noteworthy that thanks to this video for the first time we have the opportunity to see the German novelty in motion. Does this mean that the brand’s engineers are finishing testing the car and will soon be preparing it for the official presentation?
We want to note that the car is very similar to the retro-concept, which was recalled by the press service of the company not so long ago. The design is quite different from the standard convertible 911. The only thing we have not seen yet is the updated Porsche 911 Speedster with lowered top.
Of the peculiarities of the appearance of the German novelty, we can distinguish an automatically extending / folding spoiler. The open-top version of the Speedster is based on the charged version of the 911 GT3, which means that the new model will receive the same exhaust pipes, rims and front end. The interior will also be quite similar to the GT3, but you can expect some exclusive elements for the Speedster version.
Most likely the motor scale will also be similar to the 911 GT3 – it’s about the atmospheric 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine. It should produce 494 horsepower of power. With this engine, the GT3 reaches a mark of 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 315 km / h.
