Porsche completely redesigned the Carrera GTFebruary 5, 2019
A collector from the USA donated his Porsche Sportcar Carrera GT, released over 15 years ago, for a full range of restoration work. The result was shown by the manufacturer at a special event in Atlanta, organized for the owner of the car and the 100 guests invited by them, as well as journalists.
First of all, the owner of the sports car asked the company to repaint the car – he chose a special shade of green, which first appeared in the Porsche lineup in the 1970s, but was never offered to the Carrera GT. Also, the car received special wheels made of magnesium alloy, made in one piece. Their inner part is covered with a special layer on the basis of real silver, protected from oxidation with transparent varnish and creating the impression of a single chrome-plated part.
Porsche specialists spent 350 hours on manual restoration of all carbon parts, including monocoque. In addition, the interior was altered, the suspension parts, the engine and the transmission were restored to the factory condition.
Porsche Carrera GT was produced from 2004 to 2007. A total of 1270 copies were produced. The roadster was equipped with a 5.7-liter V10 engine, the return of which is 612 horsepower and 590 Nm of torque. The engine is combined with a six-speed manual gearbox.
From a standstill to one hundred kilometers per hour, the car accelerates in 3.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 330 kilometers per hour.
Prices for cars in good condition may exceed a million dollars.
