Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid sets a speed recordAugust 21, 2019
The partially paved Gotland ring in Sweden served as a place for a rather unusual speed record. I must say that the German hybrid crossover pretty well coped with its task.
The old Porsche Cayenne Turbo S was once the fastest production crossover that ever drove on the Nurburgring, but its record was broken by Italian Alfa Romeo Stelvio in a more powerful version of Quadrifoglio. Record time was improved by eight seconds and was equal to 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds. Then, the German high-performance crossover Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S was able to slightly improve the lap time – it covered the treasured distance in 7 minutes and 49.369 seconds.
In the meantime, the German team decided to test their new product in Sweden – the new Turbo S E-Hybrid was taken for testing.
In the hands of the German racer and TV presenter Tim Schrik was a 670-horsepower crossover, whose maximum torque is 900 Nm. As a result, the track was overcome in 3 minutes and 51 seconds. As the road is still under construction, the flagship version of the Cayenne, which used a used road tire, was probably the first vehicle ever to cross this ring.
The Gotland Ring is currently a combination of tarmac and gravel, since only a 3.2-kilometer north stretch of road is paved, while a 4.2-kilometer south stretch is full of small stones. This race demonstrated the versatility of the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid hybrid crossover.
