Porsche 911 GT3 RS will get a powerful engineJanuary 23, 2019
As a result of the change of engine type, the new generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be a bit more powerful than its predecessor.
We are just starting to get acquainted with the new generation (index 992) of the sports coupe 911, and Porsche actively helps us in this. So far, we have only seen versions of the Carrera S and 4S in coupes and convertible, but it is only a matter of time when the family will increase and will include more models and in particular “hot” ones.
One of these cars will be the GT3 RS, and today we can already say something about the novelty oriented to the use on the racetrack. As part of his interview, the head of the 911 August Akhläitner product line confirmed that the next iteration of the powerful coupe will use an upgraded 4.0-liter engine. The inline “six” will still be aspirated, but its power will be slightly increased – by a couple of horsepower.
It is quite possible to install on the car an adapted version of the 4.0-liter engine from the GT3 R. A 7-speed PDK robotized gearbox will be installed as a transmission.
As for the total weight of the car, it is unlikely that it will change much compared to its predecessor, which weighed 1,430 kg. However, some sources say that some weight reduction is possible for the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS. New exactly get improved aerodynamics, which will improve the dynamic performance.
It is too early to say when we will see the new 911 GT3 RS. I can say that this is unlikely to happen very soon – after all, deliveries to customers of fresh Carrera S / 4S have not yet begun.
Not so long ago, we wrote about a video, which shows the whole process of assembling Porsche Panamera and Macan.
