Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be a new rally sports carJanuary 20, 2019
The German company decided to return to the big auto sport with a new rally car. The novelty will be demonstrated at the next Porsche Winter Event.
Porsche is not only planning, but already on its way to returning to the Rally. The company has already built and introduced its new rally cards based on the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The model fully complies with the requirements of the FIA R-GT, and will take part in the 2020 Cup season. The main impetus for the return of the company in the rally were reviews of the concept presented last year’s Cayman GT4 Clubsport Rally Concept.
It is worth noting that the Porsche is not just a manufacturer of premium and well-known sports cars. The company has its own share of success in Dakar rally competitions. So, in 1986, the Porsche 959 and 953 models became the winners of the marathon in 1986. In the 60s-70s, even the Porsche 911 model was noted in the first places thanks to pilots Vic Elford and Bjorn Waldegard.
No details about the future novelty yet. Under the hood is expected 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine at 425 horsepower. In the framework of the debut of the return of the sports team in the Rally, at the winter competitions of the Porsche Winter Event will be held a test run of the concept.
The event is already taking place, and Richard Lietz became the pilot of the new sports car.
