Polestar will release competitor Tesla Model 3 in 2019January 24, 2018
There was a fresh information about the following new products of the brand Polestar, controlled by Volvo.
This was told by former Volvo chief designer Thomas Ingelat, who now stands at the head of Polestar, in an interview with the British edition of Autocar. After the sports coupe, the assembly of which will begin in 2019, will be released electric hatchback and SUV.
The head of the company said that the two-door Polestar 1, which has the status of a flagship, plays no less important role for the future brand, than more affordable and traditional models. One of the first “simplified” models will be the mid-size hatch Polestar 2, which is planned to be delivered to the assembly line in 2019. In the market, it should compete with the US electric vehicle Tesla Model 3.
As in the case of the coupe, the new Polestar models will have their own design, although the interior of the cars will be decorated in architecture and in the style of Volvo. This approach will reduce production costs and ensure a high level of quality. Of course, Volvo will also take over the major security hubs and technologies.
Recall sports coupe Polestar 1 was presented in October last year. The model is equipped with a hybrid power plant, including a two-liter gasoline turbo-quater and a pair of electric motors. The total power of the system is 600 hp.
