The Swedish brand has focused on the environmental friendliness of its cars.

Polestar decided to become the most environmentally friendly brand and use only natural and recycled materials in the production process of their models. New technologies from Bcomp powerRibs and ampliTex can turn natural fibers into lightweight interior panels for cars.

“It is clear that in order to be truly sustainable, we must evaluate every element that enters our cars. For Polestar, sustainability is not just about electric transmission. With the development of these innovative new solutions that we will present in our future vehicles, we strongly declare our intentions, ”said Thomas Ingenlat, CEO of Polestar.

For seats, it is planned to use 3D knitwear in such a way as to reduce the amount of waste and facilitate the processing of material sources. In the process of manufacturing the component, a single thread is used, while the main material is 100% recycled yarn obtained from PET bottles.

The company noted that wine producers and the fishing industry can also contribute, for example, you can process cork and fishing nets and implement them in car interiors. The cork production process waste can be integrated into the internal components of PVC, and recycled nylon 6 (obtained from discarded fishing nets) can be turned into woven carpets.

“It is important to note that we do not need to sacrifice design and luxury with these materials. In any case, they provide even more sophisticated, modern, stylish premium designs that enhance the quality of our designer products. It also represents a positive challenge, giving new meaning to interior design. We can extract new aesthetics from new contexts and technologies, allowing society to move on, ”said Polestar Project Manager Maximilian Missoni.
