Polestar decided on the chassis for competitor Tesla Model 3February 7, 2018
Volvo-controlled brand Polestar continues to warm up interest in its first models. Recently, the company shared information about its first-born coupe Polestar 1, now it’s gone to the second model Polestar 2, which will compete with Tesla Model 3.
According to the portal Roadshow with reference to the chief designer of the brand Thomas Ingelat, the second model of the brand will be built on the basis of the chassis CMA (Compact Modular Architecture), which was developed jointly by specialists from Volvo and Geely, which means that the model will share the “cart” with Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co 01. Probably, it is a question of a sedan, as Thomas Ingelat said that it is a direct competitor of Tesla Model 3. It also means that the car will cost comparable money – about 35 000 – 40 000 US dollars.
Also, the head of Polestar confirmed that the Polestar model will be presented in the middle of next year – simultaneously with the Polestar 1 coupe, and its production will begin in early 2020. However, unlike the hybrid coupe Polestar 1, Polestar 2 will be a fully electric model.
Soon after the release of Polestar 2, the company will take on a large crossover Polestar 3, which will be something average between the flagship coupe Polestar 1 and the massive sedan Polestar 2.
