Polestar 2 Electric Vehicle Owners Receive Dedicated Control FeaturesMay 3, 2021
Thanks to a recent software update that flew in the air, owners of the Polestar 2 have convenient remote control features. In particular, you can now use your smartphone with the Polestar proprietary application as a car key.
Polestar 2 is an electric vehicle available in various configurations in terms of powertrain layout. More recently, the electric brand, which is owned by Swedish Volvo, launched a front-wheel drive, single-engine version of the electric vehicle at a more affordable price than the $ 59,900 Polestar 2 Launch Edition. The model now has a new update.
Polestar just announced a massive 2-device wireless software update that brings a number of significant improvements.
What caught our attention most were the new features added to the Polestar app, including battery status view, remote climate control and remote locking. The company says this is still a beta version of the software, although it expects more features to be added over time.
“The redesigned Polestar app now provides the added convenience of owning Polestar 2,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar. “The simple act of being able to preheat or cool the interior remotely is something that we know adds tremendous value to the everyday car experience, and we know Polestar 2 owners have been looking forward to this feature.”
Another interesting new feature is the so-called digital key, which turns your smartphone with the Polestar app installed in it into a car key. The manufacturer claims that after extensive testing, this technology is considered more secure than a traditional key fob and is immune to relay attacks because it does not work on radio frequency. Polestar 2 uses at least 18 Bluetooth sensors to communicate with a paired smart device. All you have to do to start your car is your smartphone.
Polestar app updates with added vehicle functionality will be automatically implemented for customers who already have the app installed. It is important to note that the new functions cannot be used until the latest software has been installed in the vehicle itself. Polestar will begin releasing software updates for existing vehicles from today.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Polestar revised the options for equipping the Polestar 2 electric car. The Swedish Polestar 2 electric car will now be available in a version with one engine – this version of the model will reduce the cost of an electric car. The power of one electric motor for the single-engine versions of Polestar 2 has been increased to 231 hp.
