Polestar 2 debuts at the Geneva Motor Show, but only in 2019July 14, 2018
Volvo has already introduced its model of a hybrid coupe with a price tag of $ 155,000 – Polestar 1, but it is doubtful that the car will be in high demand because of the price. However, now the company is preparing a new model Polestar 2, which will compete for Tesla Model 3.
Polestar 1 is a stunning premium sports car with a “plug-in” hybrid, but a price tag of $ 155,000 will put it in a segment inaccessible to most consumers. However, the premium division of Volvo has already announced plans for Polestar 2, which will compete with Tesla Model 3.
The company did not talk much about Polestar 2, but the foreign edition of Evo, with reference to its own sources, reports that the model will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2019. The publication also says that the sedan will be built on the compact modular architecture of Volvo (CMA) and will most likely have a unique design.
Unfortunately, now there is no information about the upcoming technical specifications, but previously it was reported that the company intends to equip the car with a battery capable of providing the car with a power reserve of up to 500 km of track. If the company fulfills its promise, the model will receive the same power reserve as the Tesla Model 3 with a larger battery.
In addition to the power reserve, the company is going to equip the car not only with a large power reserve, but also a relatively large capacity, as well as the Öhlins suspension and the Akebono braking system, like Polestar 1.
At the moment there is no official information, but it is obvious that the company is really aimed at competing with the Tesla Model 3. In its current configuration, the basic version of the Tesla can accelerate to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km / h. Tesla also offers a high-performance version of Model 3, which can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h.
In addition, it became known that the upcoming model Polestar 3 will become a cross coupe, which will focus on controllability, design and “something special.” The model will have an electric transmission, and its production is planned to be launched at the end of 2021.
Meanwhile, the special version of the Volvo S60 T8 Polestar Engineered was bought for 39 minutes in the US market by the subscription program, which provides only monthly payments.
