Pirelli Cyber Tire tires will be able to transfer data to driversFebruary 1, 2020
Traffic information will be transmitted by the new tires using 5G.
Pirelli introduced its new product, which has a connection to 5G. The new Cyber Tire tires were shown during an automobile conference where company representatives said it was the first tire in the world to communicate with a driver using 5G wireless technology.
Pirelli announced that it has released a bus that can transmit information about pavement, including potentially hazardous conditions, through a 5G wireless network. It can also send information to other cars on the road.
Pirelli Cyber Tire is equipped with an internal sensor that will send the driver information about the tire model, distance traveled, dynamic load and warnings about potentially dangerous driving situations. In unsafe conditions, the information provided by internal sensors will help trigger driver assistance systems.
It will also help other cars on the road be safe thanks to the 5G network. If a vehicle equipped with a 5G Cyber Tires Pirelli falls into aquaplaning, a warning may be sent on the road behind it to alert the driver of upcoming conditions.
Pirelli is not the first tire company to feature something like this. Bridgestone also showed off this year’s CES tire connectivity concept, which combines with compatible driver assistance technology.
However, the company has not yet decided when the tires will be available or how much they will cost.
