Pictures of the coupe-like Volkswagen Tiguan X appeared on the networkSeptember 3, 2020
The Shanghai Volkswagen JV has shared pictures of the coupe-like Volkswagen Tiguan X. The same plant will produce such crosses for the Chinese market.
The X variant differs from the standard Tiguan by having a different roof shape and a revised stern. The bridged taillights do not resemble the optics of the base crossover, and the new rear bumper has a wide reflective strip and large dummies of the exhaust pipes. So far, the cross-coupe is presented only in the “sporty” variation of the R-Line.
The Chinese Tiguan X is built on the basis of an elongated cross, called the Tiguan Allspace in Europe, and in the PRC – the Tiguan. The wheelbase is 2791 mm instead of 2677 mm for the base version. And due to the increased rear overhang, the Tiguan X became the longest in the family: 4764 mm versus 4701 mm for the Allspace modification and 4486 mm for the initial Tiguan. At the same time, the height decreased: 1628 mm instead of 1673 mm. Finally, the cross-coupe is slightly wider than the base model: 1,859 versus 1,839 mm.
There is no photo of the interior yet, but there should be no significant changes in comparison with the standard Tiguan. The only obvious thing is that the cross-coupe will not get basic configurations: for example, virtual instruments are already in the standard version. Yes, and the technical equipment of the Tiguan X is no different from the standard cross, although it will not receive the base 150-horsepower 1.4-liter TSI engine. At the same time, two variants of the 2.0-liter “turbo four” TSI with a capacity of 186 or 220 hp will be offered. Transmission – exclusively 7-band robotized gearbox DSG, drive – full or front.
Volkswagen Tiguan X will be officially presented in China on September 7, and in the fourth quarter, the new product will appear on the local market. The German company has not yet confirmed the release of a similar model in other states.
In addition, it was recently noted that the German Volkswagen corporation is no longer accepting applications for the new Polo GTi. It should be emphasized that the stoppage of accepting orders is due to the very high demand for the model, which is why the company cannot cope with the load.
