Photospins spotted VW Jetta GLI Facelift for the first time: with a modified exteriorJuly 20, 2021
The German concern VW does not yet allow photo spies to see too many changes that have occurred with the Jetta model.
The first images of the Jetta GLI sports sedan were shown on the web. The current version debuted at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.
A closer look at the pictures reveals that German engineers are not particularly masking this Jetta GLI. The company is adding a tiny front splitter under the bezel. The mesh pattern in the lower opening has larger openings than the existing design. The upper grille appears to be unchanged, other than a redesigned VW emblem.
At the back, there is a much more prominent rear panel that partially covers each exhaust system. A closed honeycomb pattern runs between the holes. The rear pipes are too small to fill the holes, so VW may plan to add trim to make these elements appear larger.
Photospies note that the red reflectors on the rear bumper are simply glued on. This could indicate a big change at the back of the production version of the updated GLI.
There are no spy photos of the salon. Judging by the appearance, big changes are not worth waiting for. VW may update infotainment software.
The situation under the hood isn’t much different either. The existing model comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 228 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission.
The refreshed Jetta will debut in the third quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, the new Golf GTI and Golf R will also finally arrive in the US in the third quarter. In Europe, the latest GTI has 241bhp and the R has 315bhp. (235 kW). The Clubsport sits in between with 296 hp.
