Photospies caught a prototype of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R?July 28, 2018
So far, it’s not clear what kind of prototype it is – is it an upgraded version of Clubsport or belongs to a new modification that will be called the Black Series? One thing is clear, with this noticed car there are more questions than answers.
It is noteworthy that despite the fact that the whole world already knows what the Mercedes-AMG GT R looks like, the specialists of the sports division Mercedes-AMG continue to conduct tests of the car. The difference this time is that we are looking at the machine, wrapped in camouflage tape, which we have already seen, and more than once. Everything is already familiar – the design of the front, the proprietary for all modern models Mercedes-AMG radiator grille Panamericana, side air vents, massive exhaust pipes that protrude from the rear splitter. What else can we expect?
The only detail that does not let go of the idea of a new modification of the German car is the presence of 4-pipe exhaust system, which are not standard. Some time ago, we heard rumors about a high-performance version of the German GT R coupe, which can get a prefix to the name Clubsport.
No doubt, we have AMG GT R, but there is something else, which is worth paying our attention to. Maybe the guys from Mercedes-Benz already have minor changes for this car, which will be positioned as a coupe of the next model year? In fact, this seems unlikely given that GT R is still a relatively new member of this segment.
In early April of this year, car editions caught in their lenses a similar prototype model at the Nurburgring. Judging by rumors, the modified car will become somewhat lighter and will receive a power of more than 600 horsepower. Also, there is a possibility that we will see a prototype for the GT R Black series – maybe under the camouflage film there are just those minor changes in the appearance of the model that will be characteristic for the Black Series version.
Recently it became known that the electric crossover Mercedes-Benz EQC will debut on September 4.
