Photos of the updated BMW 4 Series Convertible appearedJanuary 17, 2020
Some editions published photos from the tests of the updated BMW 4 Series convertible. The presentation of new items can be expected at the end of this year – most likely, the coupe will be the first to show, and only then will the roadster be presented.
Honestly, we are tired of seeing the next-generation BMW 4 Series prototypes in coupe and cabriolet camouflaged. However, the Bavarian company continues to hide the appearance of its new products under strong camouflage. It is worth noting that the coupe and convertible 4 Series is essentially the same sedan of the 3rd Series, but the brand management decided to separate them into a separate family.
Yes, most of the masking from the prototype has disappeared, but we still can’t look at the actual shape and size of the radiator grill.
It is still widely believed that the false radiator grille that was in the previously presented Concept 4 will switch to serial models. And the appearance of that element in the concept was frankly very strange. But probably we will not know this until the moment when the Bavarian company does not introduce updated cars.
Unlike the current version of the car, the new model will receive a fabric roof instead of a retractable hard one, and this is good news, because the total weight of the car should become less. Expect more storage space in the boot because a soft roof requires less storage space than a rigid structure.
By sharing its platform and technology with the 3rd Series sedan / station wagon, the new Quartet, both in the coupe and convertible versions, will receive the same engine range as the 3 Series. We are talking about a wide range of four- and six-cylinder turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines.
They say that even the appearance of a plug-in hybrid unit, which may be under the hood of the 4th series of convertibles. The high-performance M4 Coupe and Cabrio will receive a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine.
