In those photos, which were published by foreign publications, a prototype of the 2022 Chevy Silverado pickup truck was captured in a more off-road version of the ZR2. The body of the prototype is covered with a camouflage film.

While Ford and Ram are trying to create the best pickup truck for off-roading, there is another brand that is not conspicuously involved in the “pickup battle” – this is Chevy. This American company does not have a truck to compete with the powerful Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram TRX, although that may soon change. Spy shots from one of the eyewitnesses captured what appears to be a Silverado ZR2 tested in Tennessee, USA, along with other versions of the car.

For months, there have been rumors of a more off-road version of the Silverado in development, and last year’s report “shed light” on what such a vehicle has to offer.

The truck is expected to be equipped with Multimatic DSSV dampers, higher ground clearance, front and rear locking differentials, unique bumpers to improve entry and exit angles, skid plates and aggressive off-road tires. The published “spy” images show that the pickup’s ground clearance is higher than usual, and the tires are Goodyear Wrangler. Camouflage covers the front and rear panels, hiding any changes made to the bumpers.

The Silverado ZR2 has been seen testing with other Chevy pickups, one of which may have been an updated Trail Boss model. Also in attendance was the super-cool Colorado ZR2 Bison support truck with a custom cargo box and a ZR2 badge stamped on the tailgate. The fourth-generation Silverado debuted for the 2019 model year, and Chevy is expected to refresh its pickup mid-life.

The ZR2 is expected to get the same 6.2-liter V8 engine offered today in the Silverado, which develops 420 horsepower. Rumor had it last year that GM was developing a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 for its pickups, which would help it compete on an equal footing with powerful pickups from Ram and Ford.

Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Chevy revised the list of trim levels for the Equinox crossover. The American mid-size crossover Chevy Equinox will no longer be available in the base L version for the 2022 model year, but a sporty RS version will be offered.
