Peugeot pickup will appear thanks to Chinese expertsSeptember 26, 2019
The fact that Peugeot is going to bring its own pickup to the market, it became known back in 2017. The basis for the new items will be the new Chinese platform, created by the French brand in collaboration with the Chinese Changan.
Information appeared in the media about when the world community will finally see the Peugeot pickup truck, which has been discussed for more than two years now. So, the managing director of Peugeot Citroen in South Africa, Xavier Gobil, talking to reporters from the Carmag publication, said that he saw a prototype. According to him, the novelty will appear in South Africa already in 2021. In the meantime, the brand decides where to sell its new pickup: at dealers selling cars, or at car dealerships with commercial models.
As the platform for the new product, according to specialized media, a new Chinese “truck” was created, created by Peugeot in cooperation with the Chinese automaker Changan.
Recall that the management of the brands concluded the relevant agreement two years ago. To date, this is all the details about the new Peugeot Pickup. By the way, the French brand already has a pickup truck created for the South African market.
There are no other details about the new product yet. We recall only that before the French already produced pickups. The first and so far the only Peugeot model in this segment remains Pick Up – a turned copy of the Chinese Dongfeng Rich, created on the basis of the previous generation Nissan Navara. The model is called Pick Up and is a turned copy of Dongfeng Rich, the “donor” for which was the “pre-reform” Nissan Navara. Meanwhile, it became known that the first Hyundai pickup will be equipped with a traditional staircase frame. The novelty will seriously compete with Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger models.
