Peugeot introduced a new generation hatchback 208February 25, 2019
Peugeot declassified the compact 208 hatchback. The public premiere of the car will be held in March at the Geneva Motor Show. According to the press service of the French brand, car sales will begin this fall. The novelty will be available for purchase in five trim levels: Access, Active, Allure, GT Line and GT. Prices for the model will be announced later. Whether this model will appear on the Russian market is still unknown.
Peugeot 208 is built on a new CMP model architecture. The car has become more of its predecessor and got the features of a new generation 508 sedan. The hatchback is equipped with LED optics, an elongated hood, 17-inch wheels, a new grille and another air intake.
Also, the 208 has a black glossy trim across the entire width of the tailgate, a diffuser and a sports exhaust system with chrome-plated tailpipes. The car body received three new colors: Faro yellow, Vertigo blue and Elixir red.
A digital dashboard and a touchscreen display measuring 5, 7 or 10 inches are installed inside the car. Also, the hatchback received a new steering wheel, sport seats, decorative elements made of carbon fiber, wireless charging of a smartphone, four USB connectors and a glove box.
The driver has access to adaptive cruise control, Mirror Screen functionality for working with all types of smartphones, a vehicle holding system in a lane, a parking assistance function and a driver fatigue monitoring system. In addition, the new 208 is equipped with a sign recognition system for portals, a function for tracking dead zones and an automatic high-beam switching system.
The three-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine entered the range of the engine of the hatch. The motor will be available in three stages of boost: 75, 100 and 130 horsepower. The unit works in conjunction with a 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox. Also available and 8-speed “automatic”. In addition, the 208 new generation is equipped with a 1.5-liter diesel unit with a return of 100 horsepower. This engine runs in parallel with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Also, the hatchback received a fully electric version called Peugeot e-208. From the usual car “green” car differs slightly modified grille, as well as a port for connecting the charging cable. The environmentally friendly hatchback is completed with a 136 hp powerplant. and 260 Nm of torque.
Up to 100 km / h the electric 208 can accelerate in 8.1 seconds. Power reserve of the car is 450 km (according to the protocol NEDC). You can charge an electric car from a regular home network or (it takes 16 hours to fully charge). You can also use Wall Box units with a full charge in 15 hours and 15 minutes from a three-phase network (11 kW) or in 8 hours from a single-phase network (7.4 kW).
