Peugeot introduced a 400-horsepower sports hybrid based on a 508 sedanFebruary 21, 2019
Peugeot introduced a “charged” hybrid sedan, built on the basis of the new generation model 508. The public premiere of the concept car will be held in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine of 200 hp, working in tandem with a 108-horsepower electric engine. On the rear axle is another electric motor, issuing 204 horsepower. Thus, the maximum total recoil exceeds 500 hp, however, the units cannot operate simultaneously in peak load mode, therefore the combined power is about 400 forces and 500 Nm of torque.
All-wheel drive sedan is able to accelerate from the spot to the first “hundred” in 4.3 seconds, and its maximum speed is forcibly limited to 250 km per hour. Thanks to the 11.8 kWh battery pack, the hybrid can travel up to 50 km exclusively on electric propulsion.
As for the exterior, the Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept differs from the serial sedan in a modified front bumper, other wings, carbon exterior mirror housings, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels and an increased track.
In the salon, trimmed with Alcantara and carbon, installed sports front seats with enhanced lateral support, a fully digital dashboard with a 12.3-inch display, and a multimedia complex with a 10-inch screen.
According to preliminary data, a similar car will be launched in the series in 2020. With this, the return of the hybrid installation will limit 350 horsepower.
