Company Peugeot has declared about time suspension of manufacture of “charged” hatchback 308 GTi. Prior to the beginning of October, the specialists of the brand are to modernize the 1.6-liter turbo engine taking into account the new requirements to the level of emissions of harmful substances and fuel consumption (WLTP), which will take effect on September 1.
According to preliminary information, the assembly of the Peugeot 308 GTi will cease at the end of June. After completion of the engine model will receive a particulate filter, but the power will not change – the unit will produce the same 272 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.
The updated version of the hatchback is likely to debut at the Paris Motor Show. Simultaneous with it the public debut of the new station wagon 508 Wagon and the crossover 2008 of the next generation is expected.
Earlier, other manufacturers said about the termination of production due to new requirements. Basically, it touched the “charged” models. So, Audi stopped the production of SQ5, BMW prematurely stopped the assembly of the M3 and stopped selling gasoline modifications of the 7 series sedan, and Porsche stopped accepting orders for the entire lineup.
