Peugeot 208 new generation first seen on testsSeptember 7, 2018
The company Peugeot has started tests of a hatchback 208 following generation. Spy photos of new items were published by AutoExpress. According to them, the premiere of the car can take place next spring at the Geneva Motor Show. The model will receive for the first time a fully electric version.
Judging by the photos, the car will receive the features of the older models 3008 and 5008, as well as the concept car of the Peugeot Instinct, presented last year at the Geneva Motor Show. The hatchback will be equipped with a new grille, spoiler and other air intakes. In addition, the machine significantly increased in size in comparison with its predecessor. Also attracts the attention of the sports exhaust system, so it is possible that the spy photos show a “charged” modification of the hatchback called GT-Line.
The engine line of the next Peugeot 208 will include a 1.2-liter gasoline engine, as well as a diesel engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters. In addition, the novelty will have a “charged” GTi-modification with a 1.2-liter unit, boosted to about 200 horsepower. There are no details on electrical modification 208 yet.
The novelty will be based on a new scalable CMP chassis, developed jointly with the Chinese company Dongfeng – a shareholder of the PSA alliance. It is assumed that the overall length of the car will increase by approximately 0.1 m – up to four meters.
