Paul McCartney’s Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL Lorinser sold at auctionOctober 1, 2020
The sedan Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL in tuning from Lorinser, which was the property of the musician Paul McCartney, was sold for 38,500 dollars
The music performer’s firm became the owner of the car in 1985. In 1989, the car was resold to the Prince of Saudi Arabia, then it ended up in the UK until it was bought by a new owner in 2008.
After that, the car underwent restoration for two years. Welding work was carried out, in turn, the factory 5.0-liter V8 engine was sorted out and cleaned. Along with this, the sedan received a body kit and Lorinser wheels, as well as a lowered suspension.
Instead of the acoustics speakers installed by McCartney, modern counterparts with an amplifier appeared, and a rear-view camera was located under the rear bumper.
Since the end of the restoration work in 2010, the car has covered a distance of 1130 km. Hagerty noted that Paul McCartney’s cars are not very popular among collectors, for this reason the price of Mercedes was not very high.
