Parking in the sun helps fight coronavirusMay 20, 2020
Specialists of the American University of Georgia conducted a study and determined how much time is needed for the natural disinfection of a car from coronavirus infection. Such information was shared on Wednesday, May 20, the Forbes portal.
According to scientists, coronavirus can linger for a long time on different types of surfaces. For example, on plastic and stainless steel it stays up to 3 days. But the higher the temperature of these materials, the faster the bacteria die.
At a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, the coronavirus lives in the car for about a day. Raising the temperature inside the car to 55 degrees destroys 99.9% of the virus in about 20 minutes, and at 65 degrees – just 5 minutes. For the interior to warm up so much, the car must stand in the sun for more than an hour at an air temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the cabin, in particular, the things in the car are disinfected under the sun.
In addition to the cabin, in particular, the things in the car are disinfected under the sun. It was found that a similar method works even for medical masks. In addition, scientists once again reminded that children and animals should not be left in a car in hot weather.
In addition, it was recently noted that Tesla electric cars will begin to independently search for a parking place. Cars will also teach you to recognize traffic lights and brake lights.
