Pagani unveils 850hp Huayra R track supercarMarch 19, 2021
Italian automaker Pagani has finally revealed an 850-horsepower version of the Huayra supercar. The new Huayra, which has received the R prefix to the name, is intended for driving on the racetrack and has a V12 engine. A total of 30 cars will be built.
In almost 30 years of history, Pagani has produced only two models. But over time, more powerful versions of these models appear. This was the case with the Pagani Zonda, but now history repeats itself with the Huayra – the track version of the Huayra R was introduced today. The racing Huayra may not differ from the non-R version of the supercar, although it has many unique features and details, including a bespoke V12 engine. naturally aspirated.
Pagani borrowed this engine from Mercedes, which supplies the Italian automaker with naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12s.
Pagani partnered with HWA AG, the racing subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, to develop and build a custom engine. The result is a powerful powerplant that produces 850 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. The engine can rotate up to 9000 rpm, which should result in a completely insane exhaust sound.
The company claims the Huayra R will sound like the Formula 1 car of yesteryear. Pagani uses an Inconel exhaust system designed specifically for the Huayra R. It has tailpipes of the same length for all 12 cylinders, which Pagani connects to the manifolds and tailpipes of a unique design. A race track-only supercar equipped with mufflers that can be fitted to reduce exhaust noise by up to 110 decibels.
Pagani has built the car around a new carbon titanium monocoque chassis that uses the engine and transmission to increase rigidity. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed unsynchronized sequential gearbox. A pair of active aerodynamic flaps at the rear help the car manage its aerodynamics. The car produces 1,000 kg of downforce at 320 km / h and weighs 1,050 kg dry.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the Pagani Huayra Imola or a unique supercar with 827 horsepower. It is actually the most powerful Pagani supercar ever. The new Pagani Huayra Imola will debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show.
