Opel is preparing to launch the electric van Movano-eSeptember 4, 2020
The all-electric version of Opel’s flagship bus will hit showrooms next year. We are talking, of course, about Movano, the electric version of which will undoubtedly be called Movano-e.
Opel already has the Corsa-e electric hatchback in its lineup, and all-electric versions of the Zafira Life and the new Mokka crossover are coming soon. The Zafira-e Life is of course closely related to the mid-sized electric Vivaro-e. The Vivaro-e will definitely not remain Opel’s only commercial electric vehicle. The brand announces that it will launch an all-electric variant of Movano in 2021. This large van is likely to be named Movano-e.
Vivaro and Movano’s younger brother, the Combo, will also receive an all-electric version next year. This means that by the end of 2021, all Opel commercial vehicles will be available in fully electric form in addition to combustion engines.
Opel confirms that the new Opel Astra, scheduled for next year, will also be an electrified version, at least a plug-in hybrid. If the Astra, like the new Peugeot 308, which will arrive in 2022 with a radical design change, does indeed move on the new (e) VMP platform, then it is quite possible that the Astra will have an all-electric version of the Astra-e.
Electrified versions of all Opel models should be available by 2024, according to the press service of the German brand. By then, a replacement for the current Insignia will also be available as a plug-in hybrid and / or electric vehicle.
