Opel introduced the new sports Corsa GSiMarch 21, 2018
The German brand presented the new version of its compact hatchback.
Last year sports versions of the GSi got a liftback and an Opel Insignia station wagon, and now this option has appeared in the three-door Corsa compact of the current generation. Recall, the first Corsa with the GSi debut in 1987 (1.6, 101 hp), and the last GSi-version of this model was introduced in 2007 – that hatch was equipped with a 1.6 engine with a power of 160 hp.
The new Corsa GSi received a sports chassis from the Corsa OPC, and debugged the car at the Nurburgring. Also in the arsenal of new items are: aggressive front bumper in the style of OPC Corsa, red brake calipers, radiator grille with a cellular pattern and carbon decorative plate, carbon exterior mirrors, a large spoiler, 18-inch wheels. There are no pictures of the salon yet, but in Opel they said that the sports steering wheel and Recaro seats are provided for the hatchback, the pedals have aluminum lining.
About the motor Corsa GSi in the company, too, were silent. According to unofficial data, the novelty will be offered with a petrol turbo engine 1.4 with a capacity of 150 hp (220 Nm), which is combined with a six-speed manual transmission. This motor is equipped with a hatchback in the configuration of S, with it, Corsa will dial the first 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, the maximum speed is 207 km/h.
Under the hood Corsa OPC installed turbo engine 1.6 with a return of 207 hp (280 Nm), this hatch accelerates from place to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, the maximum is 230 km/h.
On the European market, the new Opel Corsa GSi will be released later this year, the price is not announced. Charged Corsa OPC in Germany costs from 24,930 euros.
