“We have no experience with an electric rally car, so we initially had to rely on theoretical calculations,” explained Jörg Schrott, director of Opel Motorsport. “They are gradually turning into real data. We had to deal with load and temperature control of the battery, as well as software adaptation. I am pleased to announce that our project is developing according to plan. ”

As a power unit will be used 136-horsepower electric motor, capable of developing up to 260 Nm of torque. The power source will be a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 50 kW * hours. This will provide up to 337 km of power reserve in the mixed civil cycle. The transmission has three settings for the movement mode: Sport, Rain and Eco.

Unfortunately, the cost and specifications have not yet been announced.

Meanwhile, the new coupe-shaped Opel Astra was shown in the first photos. It is known that the next generation model will be based on the new PSA platform.
