Opel confirmed its readiness to release eight new products until 2021

Earlier, we wrote that with the transition of the German Opel to the “wing” of the French concern PSA, there will be great changes for the company. And now, official representatives confirmed the plan of “recovery” of the brand, and announced eight new products for the next two years.

Recall that in 2017, the German company Opel and the British Vauxhall still belonged to the American concern General Motors, and suffered quite serious losses. In the same year, these two brands changed their owners, and are now part of the French concern PSA (Peugeot-Citroen Alliance). In this regard, both brands expect large-scale program “recovery”.

At the moment, the transfer of Opel cars to PSA platforms and technologies has already begun, but as part of the development plan adopted, already by 2021, eight new products will enter the market, including new models, additional versions and modifications.

Already in 2019, we will be presented a new generation of Opel Corsa. Hatchback built on a new platform and intermarry with the future version of the Peugeot 208. Also, the commercial van Opel Vivaro, which will become the third “brother” among the Citroen SpaceTourer and Peugeot Traveler, is preparing for the series.

In 2020, we expect the debut of the new version of the crossover Opel Mokka X, details of which are not yet told, but the company has high hopes for it, hoping to significantly increase sales of Opel crossovers.

Another important direction of development of the German brand will be the electrification of the entire model range. According to preliminary plans, already in 2024, all Opel models will receive electrified modifications to one degree or another. So, in the summer of 2019, the fully electric modification Corsa will enter the market, and a little later, a hybrid version of the Opel Grandland X PHEV will appear with the possibility of charging from the mains.

Branding a profit for a brand does not end only with the transition to platforms and PSA technologies, but expenses for low-perspective models and segments will also be reduced. Until 2019, the company will bid farewell to the Opel Adam and Karl models, and the Cascada cabriolet.

In Britain, the Opel brand will be taken by the local Vauxhall brand, which will receive a fully mirrored model lineup with Opel.
