One of 40 Ford GT sports cars with a removable roof put up for auctionOctober 21, 2019
Portal Bring a Trailer put up for auction a rare Ford GTX1 in the back of a roadster, which released the studio Genaddi Design Group in a limited edition of 40 copies.
Despite the fact that the cars were finalized by a third-party company, the modernization was not only approved by Ford, but also initiated by it. Even at the development stage of the Ford GT, the chief design engineer of the model showed a prototype without a roof, which almost immediately received the approval of the management. After that, the project was transferred to Genaddi.
In addition to a removable carbon fiber roof, the car was equipped with Sparco sports seats, Porsche Carerra GT-style head restraints, branded floor mats and door sills with the GTX1 logo.
The power plant was also not left without improvements – the sports car received the Ford Perfomance package, thanks to which the roadster acquired Wilwodd brakes, and the power of the 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine increased to 700 horsepower.
The car for sale is the 33rd in a row of 40 produced in the studio. Recently, it was bought from a past owner who has traveled 18.5 thousand kilometers in 13 years. The roadster is painted in red Marl IV Red, the interior is made in black. Seven hours before the end of trading, the last bid reached 270 thousand dollars.
In early October, at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas, the last generation Ford GT supercar was legally sold for the first time. After the car appeared on the market, the manufacturer introduced a two-year moratorium on resale, for violation of which the auction house Mecum managed to pay a serious fine. The first car legally put up for auction cost the new owner three times more expensive than the factory price tag – one and a half million dollars.
