On the roads was seen a renewed Renault ClioSeptember 17, 2018
These “spy” photos of the updated French novelties were received from ordinary French motorists. As insiders inform, the fifth generation of subcompact Renault Clio will not be presented in the framework of the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
A couple of hours ago, at the disposal of our foreign colleagues from the publication Motor1 were the so-called “spy” photos of the French subcompact car Renault Clio. A new generation, 5 in the account, was sealed by an ordinary motorist, who was extremely successful at the right time in the right place (the novelty was noticed on the A31 track in France). In addition to the pictures, foreign journalists informed us that the official premiere of the novelty will not come at the Paris Motor Show. Note that up until this point, it was exactly this version.
So we will have to wait a little longer to see a direct competitor to the German VW Polo, as well as the American Ford Fiesta. We want to note that the Renault Clio is quite popular on the home market – last year, this car was sold in the amount of 117 541 copies, becoming the best-selling.
Despite the fact that the sealed prototype of the French novelty was pretty much disguised, we can still see some elements of its exterior. In particular, we can see the “hidden” rear door handles installed at the top near the glass – this is exactly what is done on the current version of the model. Apparently, the Clio 2019 model year will receive a more presentable appearance – it is reported that it will be similar to the compact Megane hatchback. There is evidence that the novelty will also borrow some features from the concept of Symbian 7, which was shown last year.
Great changes will take place in the cabin – according to the plans of the guys from Renault, the interior of the new Clio will become one of the most technologically advanced in its class. Speech in particular is about the touch screen of the infotainment system. The fifth Clio will receive the upgraded CMF-B platform. Under the hood will be an improved version of the 0.9-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, a new 1.3-liter engine family TCe, which was developed in conjunction with engineers Mercedes-Benz, and a familiar 1.5-liter turbodiesel dCi. According to rumors, in 2020, a hybrid version of the car will be added, and a little later there will be a “charged” version of the Clio RS.
